Ten Thousand Islands (10K Islands) & Everglades

Amenities of this fishing area are within Collier County of Naples and Marco
Island, FL. It consists of:
World Renowned Golf Courses, Tennis, Hotels,
Dining, More Food, Environment tours, etc...Beginning on the southern tip of
Marco Island we begin the introduction for readers who don't know about
the Ten Thousand Islands, this is part of Everglades National
Park, mainly in southwestern Florida, where mangrove islands and
shallow creeks make a wilderness maze. Even experienced folks have gotten lost
here, which is why I'm going to suggest you go with a guide your first time. It
takes years to learn your navigation through this maze.
Refuge Facts
Established: December 1996
Acres: 35,000 located in Collier County Refuge.
Location: Refuge is located 20 miles southeast of Naples, FL.
Natural History
Refuge is situated in the lower end of Marco Island... A
unincorporated fishing village called Goodland.
Concentrations of wading birds including Roseate Spoonbill, Various Herons,
Wood Storks, Water Birds, Shorbirds, Osprey...
Year round use by manatees, sea turtles (substantial beach Nesting by
loggerhead sea turtles).
Refuge is part of one of the largest expanses of mangrove Estuary in
North America: approx. 30% of refuge (8,000 acres). Is mangrove forest,
16,000 acres marine water, 11,000 acres freshwater marshland and other habitat.
Estuaries are extensively throughout with Mangrove Islands forming bays
towards the mainland and it's tributaries with Various species of sport fish
habitat in this area.
Consisting of Outside Islands adjacent to the Gulf, Mid
Islands, and the awesome Backcountry...
